In examining the eight pages of readings on Marx we had to do for homework, I thought it would be interesting to do some background reaching on where the passages came from. The Economic and Philosophical Manuscripts of 1844 (also known as The Paris Manuscripts) were written between April and August of 1844 during Marx’s stay in Paris, where he had moved after marrying Jenny von Westphalen. However, Marx did not actually publish the work during his lifetime, and they were first released in 1927 by Soviet researches. Upon its release to the public, scholarship on the philosopher was changed. The young Marx had previously been neglected as too philosophical, but the manuscripts quickly became regarded as one of his most important books despite having been written when he was only 26 years old.
